It’s been two years since I have had a consistent workout regimen. I hurt my back 2 years ago in a car accident and it hurt to workout so I took a break. I was able to keep my weight low by really focusing on my eating habits. But in the last 6 months I think I have been stress eating and if I can just be honest, I’m at the point where I either I have to buy bigger clothes or lose some weight. One thing I know, I am not buying bigger clothes! Which means I have had to replace some of my workout gear because it lost it’s life.
In the last 3 weeks I have been focusing on walking everyday. I try and go for a 40 minute walk. I walk at a good pace and I am huffing by the time I get home. My husband has been working from home asks if I have been running that’s how heavy I’m breathing! I’m not that crazy to run though!
As I have been focusing on exercise I have noticed I need a few things. I need something to hold my phone while I walk. I need some new shoes and I need socks. I am going to incorporate some weight training this week and I’m so glad we bought some dumbbells a couple years ago. I started researching arm bands and cell phone bands. They have all kinds! I decided I wanted the flip belt because I can also use it when I take the kids to Six Flags, the Zoo, or on other trips this summer. This is a link to the Flipbelt.
Shoes are a little more challenging and I am still shopping for them. I know I need to get a new pair because I am getting blisters on the bottom of my feet. I am currently looking for a good running shoe. Something I can use with the kids and with my workouts.
Socks. One would think you could buy any kind but it’s not true! Cotton socks are the worst for working out! The running store I go to has a saying, ‘Cotton is Rotten’ when it comes to socks. You need some sweat wicking socks. These are the ones I settled on. I chose these because I have used them in the past and they aren’t too expensive. I also like these Asics. The lower socks/no see socks I prefer that look and sometimes I wear these socks when I am wearing my Converse.
These are my 3 top workout gear to replace when you are starting to workout again. Shoes, socks and a phone carrier. You can probably spend less than a $100 on the 3 items and be set until you don’t like your workout clothes anymore! Out of the 3 items I am most excited about the Flipbelt because I see myself using it in other areas of my life too. I am one of those girls who prefers not to carry a handbag. I have a card case for my phone and a Flipbelt is perfect for taking a bike ride with my boys, or even going to the mall. Pockets in shorts aren’t as deep as the pockets in jeans so my phone is always dropping.
