Pinterest is a great place to share your creative ideas and get some inspiration, but after time you might want to delete a Pinterest account.

How To Delete A Pinterest Account

For whatever reason, in this article we’ll be discussing the ways you can delete your pinterest account, and give you some options you may not have thought about originally, so that you can come back to your account at a later date, without having to do anything too technical. So without further ado let’s get started.

Permanently Deleting A Pinterest Account

If you really want to permanently delete your pinterest account, then your profile and boards will be permanently removed from Pinterest forever, and all of your data associated with your account will be deleted. It will not be possible to recover them.

When you delete your account, your public profile will be immediately deactivated and your account is permanently deleted 14 days after you originally delete your account If you change your mind before the 14 days are up, log in with your email address and password, and pinterest will send you a link to reactivate your account to get everything back.

If you have outstanding bills on a business account, you will have to clear them before deleting your account. You can clear your outstanding balance by removing your payment information.

When you remove your payment information, any outstanding balance that has not been settled will be charged to the card that was on file when the spend occurred. If you can’t cover the cost on that card then further action will be taken.

When you delete your account, any linked business accounts you may have associated with that account will also be deleted. If you wish to keep your linked business account, you need to unlink your business account from your other account first before deleting your personal account.

Deactivating Your Pinterest Account

If you’d prefer to deactivate your account rather than permanently delete it, you can take a pause from Pinterest and reactivate your account later. Your profile and boards will not be visible until you reactivate your account, so it’s the perfect way to take a break without all of your data being permanently deleted.

It’s important to note that after deactivating your account, your email address and username are still going to remain tied to that account, so you wont be able to create a new Pinterest account with that same email address or username.

If you want to free up your email address or a username that’s already tied to an existing Pinterest account, you’ll have two options to consider, these are:

  • Go through the settings to change the email that’s associated with your account, or through the same settings choose to change your username before you deactivate your account.
  • Or you can permanently delete your account using the above instructions to free up your email and username associated with that account.

To deactivate your Pinterest account simply follow the following steps:

  • Log in to your Pinterest account
  • Click the downwards arrow icon in the top right-hand corner to open your menu
  • Click ‘Settings’
  • Click ‘Account management’ from the left-side navigation
  • Under ‘Account changes’, click ‘Deactivate account’
  • Click ‘Continue’
  • Select the reason why you’re leaving for the same reasons as above and then click ‘Deactivate account’ option.
  • All done, your account should now be deactivated.

To double check, you can go through to your page’s URL by going to www.pinterest.com/ followed by whatever your username was, if you’re logged out of your account and see it’s inactive, you’re account has been successfully deactivated. Don’t log in and try this step though, as that’ll reactivate your account.

Reactivating your account is as simple as just signing in. all of your posts will return like you just left.

IOS or Android

On IOS and Android both of these steps are just as easy, all that’s different is instead of following a downwards arrow you’ll follow a icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. They should both work just as easily from there.

Deactivating A Dead Person’s Account

Unfortunately if this is something to consider then Pinterest will sort any deactivating issues out on their end. Getting in touch through email or directly through the app is fine, and they’ll permanently delete the person’s account.

Note that Pinterest will never give out a person’s personal or login information, this can only be done through their end.
