Originally, when I started this post, I wasn’t expecting to make it a summer progress report of what is happening with Sticky Note Mom. But since I only published 2 posts in the summer and my blog is at rock bottom, I figured I better start with a summer progress report so we know where we are going from here.
There has been so much that has happened so far in 2018. Pinterest has changed their algorithms more than once and many bloggers are trying to leverage it to their own blogs.
For me, my personal life blew up when we decided we were going to move across the country. Once we made the decision, we had the house on the market in a matter of 3 weeks, it sold in 10 days and had to move out in 30 days. It was CRAZY!
Due to our move, I couldn’t juggle all the things. I was an emotional mess and every day I just had to focus on getting through the day. I literally cried every single day. Leaving your friends and family and everything you know is hard.
Summer Progress Report
What this did to my blog is another story. Currently, as I sit here I am reflecting on this summer and creating a strategy for going forward. During this whole summer 2018 move thing, I was also told by my husband that I either have to make money blogging or get a J.O.B. I have till Easter 2019 to earn an income.
Thankfully I am a student of Elite Blog Academy and with that, I have a plan to turn my blog around.
So let’s start with some blog statistics.
Currently, I have 68 blog post.
Traffic, 687 pageviews in the month of August.
Income earned: $1.93 in Google Adsense. My Adsense account is just over $75 and Google won’t pay that out until I reach $100.
So how am I going to turn my blog into a money making blog? I have a plan and the first part of the plan starts with Pinterest.
Since my pageviews have fallen all the way down to practically 0, I am going to implement Carly Campell’s strategy. I have read her ebook, Pinteresting Strategies, 5 times. No lie. Why don’t I keep going with it? Because I am impatient and I have a tendency to think that other ways may be better. This time I have decided I am going to just focus on her strategy through the end of the year and see what happens.
Why not use Pinning Perfect?
I LOVE Pinning Perfect, but I also think there is value in understanding Pinterest’s platform. Maybe after Christmas, I will reevaluate and see what is working and what is not. If you haven’t heard of Pinning Perfect, it’s a fantastic course on Pinterest. The ladies teach you everything you need to know from setting up your Pinterest profile, creating a pin, creating a template for your pins, organizing your pins and a Pinterest strategy. This course has it ALL.
Carly’s ebook, Pinteresting Strategies is the one that I go back to time and time again. Her strategy allows you to have complete control over when and where you are pinning without having to worry about spamming a board.
Reflections on my business and blog
Having almost 3 months without posting much during that time is not something I would recommend. I can understand taking a couple weeks off, but not as much time as I took. Everything died during that time. Traffic, income, momentum. Now I am basically starting at the beginning and I have to work really hard during this time if I want to hit my goals that I had planned for this year and my Easter goal.
Despite having to start over, I have decided that I am only going to post traffic and income reports through the end of 2018. Even though I LOVE reading blog income reports, I don’t love sharing with the world MY income. I am a pretty private person and I feel like that is something I need to keep quiet about.
At this time I haven’t decided if I am going to email income reports, because I am really not doing this whole blog thing to sell to bloggers. I really want to help my people who have lost a job or want to improve their grocery budget or work from home. My end goal is not to create another blogging course. I will gladly recommend a blogging course and give advice on courses.
What’s next for Sticky Note Mom
The month of September is all about content. I have a plan and you are going to see my content increase consistently.
Traffic. Followed by content, traffic is my second goal for September.
Holiday Content. My final thoughts are to focus on Holiday content so that those posts are ready for Holiday shoppers.
My final thoughts, if you haven’t read Carly’s ebook Pinteresting Strategies, you need to purchase that right now. It’s $32 and she is currently making updates to it. So once the updates are done she will probably raise the price. So grab it right now. It’s an instant download and you can read it tonight!
Next summer I hope my summer progress report is better than what you read today.
